More than just a beer—the potential applications of by-products from beer manufacturing in polymer technology

چکیده
Abstract Beer is the most popular alcoholic beverage in world, and its popularity continuously growing. Currently, global beer production estimated at around 2 billion hectoliters. Nevertheless, increasing capacity implicates rising issue of generated by-products—brewers’ spent grain, hops, yeast, wastewater. They are massive amounts, so having mind current pro-ecological trends, it crucial to look for their utilization methods. Among possibilities, particular attention should be drawn polymer technology. This sector can efficiently use different lignocellulosic materials, which could applied as fillers composites or sources chemical compounds. Moreover, due composition, brewing industry by-products may used functional additives. introduced enhance materials’ resistance oxidation, microbes, fungi. These issues considered especially important case biodegradable polymers, whose growing over last years. paper summarizes literature reports related composition potential applications directions research based on possibilities offered by presented.

More than just big ears
To the non-specialist, large ears in elephants used to mean African, small ears, Indian. But to taxonomists African elephants have long posed a more complex puzzle. During the nineteenth century, it was fashionable for wealthy trophy hunters to assign their own names to species they had shot destined for the museums of Europe. At least 18 elephant subspecies were claimed following this fashion....
متن کامل[Traveling is more than just getting from A to B].
Traveling is not just a means for moving about; traveling is a pleasure. There are few people who do not like to travel. Traveling can mean visiting your family just a few miles away, and traveling can mean going around the world. But deep down, it is all the same: traveling. One of the oldest known examples is that of Herodotus, who traveled around the known world of the time, observing and re...
متن کاملLipolysis: more than just a lipase
Successful adaptation to starvation in mammals depends heavily on the regulated mobilization of fatty acids from triacylglycerols stored in adipose tissue. Although it has long been recognized that cyclic AMP represents the critical second messenger and hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL)* the rate-determining enzyme for lipolysis, simple activation of the enzyme has failed to account for the robust...
